How fast time flies. The year of the Chicken was over within a flash, and now it's the year of the Dog liaoz. As usual, ppl outside will organise celebrations to herald the new lunar year. But I couldn't care much. To me, the new year is jus a sign of how little time we have to do whatever we want to do.But still, I sincerely wish everybody out there a meaningful Year of the Dog ahead. Whether ur working, studying, or doing nth at all, make the best out of anything u do, cos u never know what will happen the next second, minute, hour and day.

Money is hard to come by. Yet, many a times we usually spend more than what we earn.My mum had given mii $50 tis morning as she wanted mii to buy a new shirt for myself. Add to the $14 I have, that makes it $64. As u should know, many schools celebrate CNY today. AJ is no exception, but why should there be lessons from 0745-1015?? Some JCs, like NJ, went into the celebrations straight away and by 9 plus everything was over liaoz. Becos of the lessons, our day onli ended at 11.50. By the time mii and my other xinmin sec frenz returned to our sec sch, it was already 12.30 le.Well, not to say we didn't meet any teachers. Some of them were still around, like Mr Chan, Mr Chee, Mr Rodriguez and Mdm Tian. Plus some of us met the principal and the VPs in the general office. Lols. They were like coming from behind us, and we actually didn't notice.Went for lunch at the nearby coffeeshop at abt 2 plus, then sat around until 3 before moving on to compass pt. There I bought a Quiksilver T-shirt. Navy colour de. Quite a big shirt. Hahas. But veri expensive though. So, how the heck did I spend $60+ in 1 day?---Quiksilver T-shirt : $39.90---Get A Life card renewal (77th Street membership) : $12---Topping up my ez-link card : $5---Food : $4.10Total expenditure : $61There u have it! Well, tis isn't the way I spend money most of the time, cos I haven't started to earn money yet. But then, sometimes u need to make way for exceptions ya? =)The day after is CNY liao. So fast. But today economics got giv IVLE de assignment. Sianz. Which means I have maths, GP and econs hw. But nevermind. Like I said, tis yr's CNY is jus a normal period of time for mii, cos I dun feel the presence of festive spirit. Somemore nxt Fri (3/2) got cross country, so perhaps I might be going to the stadium on nxt tuesday to train on my stamina abit.

There's the dreaded PE lesson in the morning as usual. And this time, we were made to run much more than last week, 12 rounds compared to 8 last week. Well, guess there isn't much I can do. Cross-country is jus around the corner, and guys have to run the equivalent of 4.8 km, not to mention the undulating ground at macritchie.
More homework seems to be coming in, too.
->Maths : Binomial series tutorial (Q5-8) for 1/2 - right after CNY
->GP : Newspaper commentary (1 response piece) for 3/2Yesterday didn't get to use the com, so updating what happened ytd here as well.Mii went for the library orientation at 2.30. The statistics told it all - there were 6 JC2s and 6 JC1s, some more onli 2 guys. So pathetic. Aiyo. Current affairs at least got 15 J1s lorx. Perhaps few ppl were interested in tis kind of cca, as they might think joining such ccas might not help them to excel in terms of cca points (PEARLS) and stuff. Like I said in my previous entry, I was jus curious to find out how good the librarians here were mahx. But I realised that the seniors were actually quite friendly. Mayb I'd reconsider my decision of joining current affairs? Lols.

Yupz, CNY is juz around the corner, yet that festive mood doesn't seem to be present. Perhaps it's due to the fact that my family couldn't celebrate CNY this year, as a mark of respect for my grandpa, who had passed on in september 2005.My parents will be going overseas from 1/2/06-3/2/06. Great. Can chiong Maple on 1/2 and 2/2 liao. But too bad 2/2 got morning PE, and 3/2 got cross-country @ macritchie, otherwise I'll probably be playing into the wee hours of dawn. Lols.Today was business as usual in school. Nothing much to elaborate about. Fortunately the weather tis afternoon was kinda cloudy and windy, so we didn't have to suffer under the scorching sun during our PE lesson from 3.15-4.15. Actually, 40 mins went to the briefing of the cross-country, so onli abt 25 mins went to the actual running and stretching.Tmr I'll be dismissed early - 1.45. But there's a meeting for those interested in joining library at 2.30. Since I had signed up for tis CCA too during the CCA carnival 1, I won't mind taking some time out to check out what the librarians here do, other than the usual shelving and processing of books. =)

Lessons were stretched to 4.15 today. No doubt I had lots of breaks in between, but during these breaks there wasn't much I could do.The day started off wif econs tutorial, the tutor went thru wif us the 2 worksheets on central problems of economics. Then it's GP lecture, my class being 1 of the last classes to arrive. Now then I realised that argumentative/expository writing is so tough! Haiz. Hope I can be better in such genres of writing come the mid-year common tests. After an 1-hr break, time for maths lecture. I dunno wad to sae about the lecturer, but he's like so comical lorx. To show that cubic curves have turning points, he does all sorts of weird sound effects to illustrate his case. Lols. I know he wants to make the lecture less boring, but tis seems like abit overdone. Then, from 11.45--2.45, nothin' on in between these 3 hours. Man. So how was tis time spent?1145-1245 : Went to the library to work on physics tutorial, with Joycelin, Harmit and Xiang Feng. We got tired of it, however, within less than 30 mins. Hahax.1245-1345 : Mii had lunch in the canteen, then sat around wif the same ppl as above except Xiang Feng, who had chinese lesson. An Xuan and Joanne joined in.1345-1430 : Went to NYP de food junction. Again, jus sat on the benches chatting. Lols.On the way back to AJ, Joycelin realised that she had left her hp in the toilet and rushed back to NYP to retrieve it. Fortunately, she managed to find it in the end. =)Final lesson of the day : physics tutorial @ 1141 (block 11, 4th storey, room 1). Sianz. I could see Miss Tan, the tutor, trying veri hard to catch our attention. Buden we were all so tired after more than half a day gone. Still, we followed thru her lesson as best as we could. Finally, everything was over by 4.15.Haiz. The physics de tutorial I do until blur diaox. Stil couldn't differentiate between SI units and base units. Nevermind. Mayb I can ask my uncle and see whether he knows or not.Tmr I'll also be dismissed onli at 4.15. Reason? Afternoon PE. Without it, I'd have been able to go home at 1.45. Haiz. Hate PE lessons lotz. All the running, stretching and stuff - it's taking a massive toll on our physical and mental strength. Some more it's from 3.15 to 4.15. What an unearthly time indeed. =/

Arrived at toa payoh swim cplx at 12.30, onli to be told that I was late for gold star exam. Huh? The coach afterwards told mii that I was supposed to be there half an hour b4 the stipulated time. But u nv told me beforehand, so how u expect mii to know? >.<So I was marked as absent. Sianz. Will need to wait 1 month++ b4 the next test. Why I always so blur de?? =/Perhaps I'm not fated to get the gold star award. The first time in June 2005, I went to the wrong place, Hougang instead of Toa Payoh. This time I couldn't be mistaken about the place, but the time... Haiz.Nevermind, there's always another chance to take the test in the nxt few months. I should start doing my tutorials bahx, cannot always play Maple de :p

21 jan - what's so special about this day? It's the day I'll be taking my gold star swimming exam. 1230 hrs @ toa payoh swimming cplx. Well, the last time I trained was last sat - 30 laps of breaststroke in 36 min 30 sec. Still, I don't reali feel prepared for the event. There's this bad feeling that I wont even pass thru the 1st hurdle - the 100m sprint (time limit : 2 min 30 sec). But I don't reali giv a damn. I'll jus deliver my best lorx.Seems that some of my frenz in AJ are starting to feel the pressure shooting up le, especially those Science students. Hmm, I feel otherwise though. No pressure at all. Wonder why I feel this way, but perhaps it's becos of the fact that my classmates in 31/06 are relatively nice ppl. Yes, there're tutorials to be done. But I'll jus take things in my stride bahx. Why stress yourself so much when it's onli the beginning of a new yr?Guess I've got to mix around wif my classmates more often. True, we'll onli be together until end of term 1, mayb earlier. But all the more is there the need to treasure this short, yet memorable, friendship. When the 2nd intake comes in, everything's gonna change again. New frenz, different tutors. Haiz. If onli things can stay the way they are right now. Will I be staying in AJ? Hmm, depends lorx. If my O level results not good enough for Arts stream, then I don't have a choice. Otherwise, I should be continuing my studies here. I know the facilities in some areas are not in good condition. But the environment generally still facilitates studying. Since my future ambition is to be an economic advisor/accountant/stockbroker, it's best to continue taking subjects like Economics and Maths, so that I'll have a good foundation prior to finding such jobs. =)

Pretty obvious which lesson I'm referring to, huh? Yupz, it's none other than PE.Well, in ytd's blog entry I'd mentioned that today's PE lesson gonna b a torture. And I couldn't be more right. Lots of jogging and stretching exercises. If the teacher sees some ppl not doing the exercises properly, then it'll be push-up position down. No bargain.Ran 8 rounds tdy, 2 warm-up and 6 actual. Didnt bother to record the time to see how I fared, cos it's jus for training purposes, right? Haiz. And that's not all. After the jog there's another set of stretching exercises to be done. By the time everything was over at about 9.05, my whole body was aching like siao liao. There'll be another 1-hr PE session on Tuesday afternoon, 3.15 to 4.15pm. Surely dio sunburn de. And I know this is onli the beginning. =/

Seems that my sch life in AJ is reminiscent of a wandering spirit. Each morning when I go to sch, I might meet up wif some of the xinmin sec guys frm 4e2 and 4e1'05. But after the morning assembly, I dun get to see them again. Different timetables mahx. Haiz. Veri often I go about for the lectures and tutorials alone. Still not veri familiar wif my class, 31/06, de ppl. But should get along better wif them as time passes by.Tmr is my class de first PE period. Heard from my frenz that they did lots of running during their PE lesson. Fine. I'm prepared to suffer physically and mentally. It's been quite some time since I've gone jogging. To make things worse, after the 1.5 hour lesson, there's onli 1/2 hour for us to rest and change before a whole chain of tutorials - econs, geog, then maths. 3 continuous hours. Guess this is the day of the week that I least look forward to.For now, there're some tutorials that I nid to work on.~Maths (Binomial Series) - 8 qns, completed 4, next tutorial : 19/1 (tmr)~Physics (Measurement) - 22 qns, completed 8, next tutorial : 23/1 (next mon), but our H1 physics teacher wanna see us tmr.~Geog, Econs - No assignments yet, but this is onli the beginning. =/

The temporary lecture schedule we've been following for the past 2 weeks ceases to take effect from today onwards. Instead, formal time-table has been issued tis morning. I should count my blessings that my lessons end kinda early today - 12.45pm, cos dun nid to take H1 Chinese mahx.Well, tis morning H2 geog lecture, we kena scolded again. Like Miss Johnson said, that's the 2nd time she had to be nasty to us in 2 days. Monday was becos one guy kept fidgeting around, while today was becos quite a number of students did not print the lecture notes and handouts they were supposed to print. Aiyo, no printer can ask fren help you print de mahx. What a poor excuse. Nevermind. I think those H2 geog students should know what to do by now le bahx. Zi4 dong4 yi4 dian3 la.H2 Econs was business as usual. Copy, copy, copy while listening to the lecturer go on and on and on. Like previous lectures, I nearly went to sleep at times. =/H1 Physics later on was, again, a rather monotone session. The lecturer talks, we listen. From the way she explains the concepts, I think we'd be better off reading the notes by ourselves. Self-directed learning. Lols.End of lessons le. So soon. Onli 12.45pm sia. Stayed in school to try the physics tutorial until about 3 before deciding to go home. On the way back, I met Mr Yeo (was disciplinary master for xinmin sec a few yrs back). Had a pretty good chat wif him. Indeed, he might have left the school when I was in sec 2, but I stil hav a good impression of him. Also saw Mrs Yeap (music teacher) at my mum's workplace. Her hairstyle had changed for the better I guess. She looked more vibrant now. =)Tmr de work schedule kinda siong. Morning got H2 math and geog lectures, then afternoon got tutorials for these 2 subs too. Better read up more on my geog lecture notes, cos geog is the 1st tutorial I'll be attending here.Okay, going to play Maple as usual before getting down to study. Cyaz!~

There were lots of activity for mii 2day. Had to rush through housework in the morning cuz nid to meet the other Arbol members at yio chu kang mrt by 12 noon. Must be punctual. Hahas. I was punctual enough, reached there by 11.50am.Hmm, among the 20 members, onli 13 turned up. The rest were either not free or not feeling well. Reached grassroots club in less than 5 mins (pls, tat place is juz a stone's throw away from the mrt station). The 8 guys who did come (except zhi jie, pei xiong and xiao hua) went to 2nd floor de billard room for several games of pool. This was onli my 2nd time playing pool. Lols. But had a good time trying to hit the balls into the pockets. We had lunch at around 1.30 in Fish Shoppe (erm, didnt really take note of name. Pardon mii if I'd made a mistake). I had chicken cutlet in sweet n sour sauce. Definitely worth the $7+ becos of the generous serving of chicken. By the time the dessert, chocolate mousse, came, I was starting to feel bloated le.Afterwards, majority of the guys went for bowling. I had never bowled before, and I didn't want to embarrass myself. So I jus watched from the sidelines. It's not that I'm unsporting, but what if every ball I roll out end up in the gutter? That'll be so xia sui lorx.Left the group at about 4.15pm cos got swimming lesson at 5.30. Or so I thought. The coach go overseas nobody tell mi, so I wait at swimming cplx until 6.30 den decide to call his hp. Diaox. Next week my gold star exam liao stil go overseas -.- Nevermind, I train on my own lorx. 30 laps of breaststroke (1.5km total) in 36 min 30 sec -- not too bad ya? Heh.Now I feel so tired. Sianz. The IVLE thingy got error, so couldnt login to check for changes to next week's timetable. Aiya, forget it, check back again tmr bahx! Now going to chiong Maple for an hour le. Hahas. Play online games then wont feel tired anymore. =)

1 week of lectures have passed, n I'm still trying to get used to the way lessons are conducted in AJ. If only we could remain in our own orientation groups. Now that 18 out of 19 og members are in different classes (onli Li Jiong in same class as mii -- 31/06), tis means another round of ice-breaking and stuff. Well, once in a while the whole group might meet during the lectures (eg. Maths and GP), but it seems like I'm having my studies on my own, without any close frenz. Many others would probably think this way too. Nevermind. Leave everything to fate bahx =/Nxt week gonna start PE programme liao. Sian diaox. First lesson going to conduct 2.4km run. And there're sooo many things spelt out clearly during the PE talk this morning, I think I'm suffering from info overload liao. Haizz. What to do? In less than 2 years, I'll be going for NS le, but at present still have problems wif: standing broad jump, pull-up, running (sometimes). Guess I've to start exercising more often le.Oh and I nearly forgot, nxt Saturday I'll be taking swimming exam for Gold Star award, 12.30pm at Toa Payoh swimming complex. Havent been training for it due to lack of time. Think I gonna fail le. Haiz. Jing4 li4 er2 wei2 bahx.Tmr I'll be going for my og (Arbol) de gathering at grassroots. Either bowling or playing pool, which I'm a total newbie at either. But there's a 1st time for everything, right? =) Meeting at yio chu kang mrt 12 noon. Hope the gathering can help mi de-stress in some way.

Lots of rain fell within the past few days. Yes, it does make the weather more cooling. However, the lives of ordinary folk are greatly inconvenienced, especially when we hav to go out for work or school. Sianz.Today was no exception. From the early hours of the morning it has been raining non-stop here. Fortunately, today's a public holiday, so I'd rather be holed up at home resting than going out. Hahas.Till now, I still hav no idea which cca to join in AJ. Librarian? Sports? Aesthetics? Nevermind, I should be able to make up my mind after tomorrow's CCA carnival in the late afternoon.Wonder why I feel so tired today. ~zZz~ Better go take a rest first before I doze off while blogging. =x

Hmm, today was the first day of lessons after a week of orientation. Apparently few ppl were in the mood for lessons, including myself. In all the lectures I attended today, from geography H2 in the morning to economics H2 in the late afternoon, all the lecturers were kinda particular about respect: when he/she is talking, the audience should keep quiet. Perhaps this has been the tradition in AJ all along for the past 2 decades. I will need time to get used to this tradition =/What subject combinations did I get? I got my 1st choice: H2 economics, geography and maths, plus H1 physics. =) And also do not forget the compulsory H1 subjects: General Paper, Project Work and MT language (I do not need to sit for MTL cause I've taken HCL for O levels)Tml is a public holiday (Hari Raya Haji), so I'll probably stay home to read over my geography notes on lithospheric processes. Weird huh? First day alr got notes liao. But I know this is JC life. Really really fast-paced.For tis wed (11/01), more lectures n tutorials coming up:0745-0845 Economics (H2) @ Lecture Theatre (or LT) 40845-0945 -0945-1045 Geography (H2) @ LT11045-1145 Maths (H2) @ LT31145-1245 Physics (H1) @ LT11245-1345 -1345-1400 Break1400-1700 CCA Carnival 1Okay, after a hectic day in school, going to take a good rest liaoz. Time flies, and it's now 2006 already.. It has been 1 year since I've last updated tis bloggie.. Perhaps I've been jus too busy wif my studies but oh well..
Last week (03/01/06--06/01/06) was the JC1 orientation in AJC. Ask mii whether I'd enjoyed the programe, and I'd reply, yes and no. A brief breakdown on the events on each day:
Day 1: Basically the members of my orientation group (Madeira-Arbol/35) did not know each other tat well yet. So, there was this weird feeling of loneliness and awkwardness. Almost every1 went to sleep during the subject talks. There was also very little enthusiasm amongst us during the tour games later in the afternoon n oso the dance, mambo no.5 =/ But somehow I enjoyed the dance. As you know, mambo no. 5 is a dance requiring a couple, right? My group had 2 extra guys (11-9) so I was arranged to Matsu/31. My partner then happened to be from amkss, sec 4e1 (could see from her t-shirt). Initially both of us felt veri uncomfortable, but later in the dance, there was no doubt we both had enjoyed it. Hahas. On the whole, Day 1 was a terribly boring one, little interaction between group members making it seem like a normal school day.
Day 2: Today was a stark comparison of Day 1. There was apparently much more interaction among the group members. But in the morning was subject talks part II, which, again, put many to sleep. Afternoon, time for some games n dance as usual. Our group won 4 out of 5 games, which was quite an impressive record. but I feel the dance, Borriqutto, lacked something.
Day 3: Performance in the games today was much less glamorous. Perhaps becos of the fact the mission games involved LOTS of water. =/ Arbol won 1, drew 2 and lost 2 games. The onli 1 we won, was one requiring a blindfolded person, with the help of a guider, to deliver a cup of water to the recipient, who would be sitting on a chair holding a water bottle on the top of his/her head. The blindfolded person would b required to pour the cup of water into the water bottle (duh), and if he/she isn't accurate enough, you should know what will happen. The recipient gets WET! And I mean, wet from top to bottom. Seriously. I volunteered to be the recipient once, and realised that it's actually quite cooling having water poured onto your head and trickling down your body. Hahas. Later on, the dance (It's Gonna Be Me) had some reali fast steps I couldn't catch, like many other ppl.
Day 4: The finale of the orientation, my group certainly wanted to end it on a high. And sure we did, winning all 5 out of 5 finale games. Wow. Much more team spirit between everyone, and that contributed greatly to these victories. No more dance today, instead, there was Free and Easy from 12.30-5.00pm. Well, I got to say my group didn't really enjoy this period. We went to Toa Payoh central's Pizza Hut branch for lunch, then we were divided on where to go next. The guys initiated playing pool, but somehow they were rejected becos of their pants. 0_0 Therefore the whole party moved on to Shop 'N' Save to buy some snacks, then took bus 88 to AMK central, before walking back to AJ from there. Nice way to wheel off spare time, huh? Anywayz, the campfire nite started off well, with performances from Eternal Loop (heard of them b4? They participated in the School of Rock competition organised by the Straits Times) putting everybody on a high. But around 7.45pm it started to drizzle amidst darkening skies, so we had to move up to the hall. What a pity. Back in the hall, there was a prize-giving session. Best elementii? Not Arbol, but Hoja from Terra. Lols. But nevermind, winning comes second to friendship.
All in all, the orientation was largely a success, despite some minor problems here and there.
I certainly miss all my friends from my orientation group. They made mii realise the importance of teamwork, amongst other things. Though we might not be in the same classes come next week, I believe each and evrey1 of us can continue to reach out and far for our aspirations. Rock on everybody! And also special thanks to our 2 orientation group leaders, Hui Fen and Joanna. They helped in some way to ensure there was interaction amongst the group, which indirectly contributed to our performance in all the games.
