wow.this is already my 200th post.i couldn't help but realise how immature i was back in my sec sch days.and even tdy, i still suffer from a severe deficiency in crisis management.i never knew how to defuse conflicts, especially between classmates.and sometimes (or should i say very often?) when i'm at the centre of cnflict, i always tend to blow matters up when these should have well been put to rest.once again, peer pressure rears its ugly head.but i ain't gonna buckle under the pressure.will just continue and do my part.and be less of a busybody.no lessons tdy, as u should have known.it's I&E day.the activities were relatively hands-on.but i didn't really learn anything new.except the indicator test for a chemical called fervin (sp) found in red cabbage.house meeting at 2.10.sian 1/2.gonna sleep through it.house spirit takes time to cultivate.but unfortunately, every jc student only has two years to do so.keke.time to go for the meeting (reluctantly).ciao~total blogging time today: 10 minutes.

tdy was quite smooth sailing.math test was successfully pushed back to next mon.my group's GP presentation was also over in a breeze.though my hands just can't stop fidgeting in the process.tmr is I&E day.no lessons, only meaningful activites.hope these activities can really live up to their name though.the dampener?there's house meeting after all programmes are over.cheetah house members will congregate in LT4.definitely an ideal place.now looking forward to a new phone.as well as laptop.both my broadband and hp contracts expiring by mid-june.so hopefully i can get both of these wishes fulfilled by end-june. =)once again, it's currently raining outside.tmr's weather better not be like this.okay.that's all i have to say for now.do check back for updates on I&E day next week.total blogging time today: 22 minutes.

hellos.tdy was characterised by loads of info overload ~_~tdy's math lecture continued with loci in the complex plane.i think i'd have forgotten the basics of complex numbers already.after trying to input the different forms of loci into memory.hahas.PE lesson.. did more exercises in preparation for NAPFA.following that, geog lecture covered management of urban problems.the greatest info overload came during mass civics.lots of slides of 'A' level results for aj's 05/06 batch (our seniors).at the same time, stereotyping continued to be made evident between the science and arts students.that's a highly sensitive issue and i shan't elaborate.the point of showing the slides?to remind us that we should not neglect GP though it's a H1 subject.because it counts towards university admission, etc etc..okay.mind's set.i must dedicate myself to reading straits times for 1 hr per day.from tonight.no more procrastination le.finally, GP lesson.did news article on time.half-completed the essay plan for sport. (3/4 to be more precise)then it was a mad frenzy to get our files sorted out.after sch, i had a quick consultation with miss toh to clarify my problems for the two essay plans.currently in sch revising complex numbers and blogging this entry.yup.i'm still trying hard to master the art of multi-tasking.have to work on balance of payments DRQ and worksheet afterwards.wow.now i'm like so motivated to study lor.i must continue to stay focused with the goal in mind.oh btw, my goal is straight Cs for the 'A's.hahas.after all, i never liked to mug.so the As and Bs will probably be beyond my reach.i always have low expectations, and this is no exception.with a balanced mix of work and play, this goal shouldn't be hard to fulfil.there's vectors test this thurs.and speaking of vectors, i have to continue with vectors (3) tutorial.to avoid suffering from grave implications.geog DRQ common test coming in three weeks' time (T2W5, 16 apr)and math common test is on T2W7.okay.stopping here.gotta continue revision of complex numbers.seeya~~total blogging time today: 54 minutes.

you guessed it.i didn't complete my GP essay plans.haha.consequence: i've to show ms toh the completed plans next tues.die ar.procrastinate too much alr.no new assignments tdy.but next thurs got math test on vectors (parts 1 & 2).that's still not too bad.when it comes to the planes section of vectors, most of the confusion will start to arise.next fri is I & E day.for the uninitiated, it stands for innovation and enterprise day.special programmes will be organised on that day.so fri's timetable will be shifted to thurs = no PE (:but it makes little difference.thurs and fri are both long days in the first place.quick summary of all tasks for the week.(GP)- refining the two essay plans [27/3]- problem-based learning (groupwork) [next week]- news article [27/3]- sort out work file and reading file [27/3](Math)- start on vectors (3) tutorial [26/3]- complete descriptive stats self-test + survey [latest 26/3](Econs)- balance of payments DRQ [28/3]- balance of payments "worksheet 3" (the green booklet) [28/3](I&E)- photojournalism: snap that photo, write that caption and upload it! [26/3, 8 am]and finally, weekend's coming (:service-learning is still on.tmr's session is the fifth so far, if i didn't remember wrongly.and leonard's gonna continue to haunt me again. =.=nevermind.i'll only have to tolerate his attitude for several more weeks.after that it'll be gaming as usual.speaking of which, tdy's alr the 107th day since my com died.and the wait for a replacement continues.haiz.me kinda resigned to fate alr.if it won't be fixed, it won't be.forever.so might as well focus on the more important stuffs.sunday.. planning to capture the photo for I&E day project.my idea, if you read it, is kinda weird and not feasible.foreground: singapore river.background: skyscrapers.centre frame: shops along the river (eg. boat quay)caption: haven't thought of it yet.but who cares whether it's feasible?inspirations will naturally come when you want it to.two long hours to go before physics.sian.i think i shall start on vectors (3) tutorial first.ciao.total blogging time today: 42 minutes.

tdy was another of those thursdays.i became kinda moody after econs tutorial for no reason.and the whole string of lectures that followed didn't help one bit.wai tsun sat beside me for GP lecture.and just like myself, he was struggling to stay awake.haha.near the end of the lecture, we had to write a content paragraph.i penned down three lines, and just stuck there.my GP tutor came around, gave me some advice on possible approaches.but the three lines remained as it is till the end of the lecture.wai tsun did slightly better, writing about six lines.but he told me it's all crap.whatever..sian ar.pe lesson in ten minutes.thunder's rumbling outside at this instant.which means it should be indoor exercises for tdy.i don't feel like running full 2.4km distances, so that's good.tdy's homework is all econs and nothing else.- balance of payments worksheet (last three pages of GREEN booklet)- balance of payments DRQokay.this segment of macro issues sure looks abstract.maybe i should obtain other references from other econs textbooks.after all, relying solely on lecture notes doesn't help. last night, i worked on news article till quite late.then overslept tdy.screw the alarm clock.nvr wake me up on time.dad had to nudge me awake at 6.30, when i usually woke up at around 6.kns.stupid clock.20 minutes of madness followed.frantically getting what i had to do done.left house at 6.50.omg.like so damn late can.to make things worse, i missed the 6.58am bus.die ar.next bus only arrived at 7.03.reach int at 7.26.then chiong past sch foyer just in time.wise thing to do, as i saw the large group of latecomers apparently getting a scolding.the principal also "graced the occasion".whew.burning midnight oil nearly spoilt my day.got back GP compre tdy.just passed. 22.5/50.happy wif this result cos i was expecting to fail.and this shows that pessimists' lives ain't always depressing ones. (:IMO, compre papers are more unpredictable.compared to essay writing.there has to be one question from the list of 12 essay questions that you're familiar with. (if not, good luck)but compre passage(s) focus on solely one topic, like science & technology, environment issues etc.if you aren't familiar with the underlying topic, you can kiss the 8-10 marks for application question goodbye.teachers constantly remind students to read up more on global issues.but even if your knowledge bank is wide and brimming, it doesn't guarantee that you can extract all the specific and relevant examples (names, dates, etc.) on the exam day itself.of course, not reading up regularly has far worse repercussions.so clearly, there isn't any easy way out.just read more, and practise more essay questions and compre passages.easier said than done?my mind always starts to drift away when it comes to the "action" part.got to correct this lack of perseverance before it's too late.two essay plans not due tdy, but on fri.relief.work and reading file checks postponed to next week.double relief.but the problem-based learning thingy is still due next tues.plus i've yet to modify the geog revision schedule to make it more detailed, yet realistic.also have to re-do the econs common test essay question, which was terribly done.both the schedule and the corrections are due tmr. =.=i've yet to reveal my latest phone bill to parents.they'll probably faint upon seeing it.$88 in a single month.that's not the highest in my mobile usage history.but still, it's an unforgivable sin.based on what my mum always says.forget it.i shall let them know tmr.let all the negatives be over and done with in one single day.complex numbers still appear very abstract to me.i can tell the difference between cartesian, polar and exponential forms.but the wide variety of questions that could appear for this topic really mounts alot of psychological pressure for first-timers.mr hong covered De Moivre's theorem in tdy's lecture.blindly copied as usual.PE lesson wasn't pleasant.it nvr was in the first place.but the mood tdy was soured even further by a long lecture from mr lim.enough said.mass civics.. watched a concert put up by musical talents from organisations based in indonesia and singapore.Dr. Balaji Sadasivan, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Information, Communications and the Arts was the guest of honour.the concert goes beyond just entertaining the audience, it also serves as an inspiration to able-bodied people that people with disabilities can thrive against all odds with their display of talents.okay.time to stop.it's almost time for the talk.bye.total blogging time today: 68 minutes.

past two days have been busy affairs.cca carnival on wed..me and zhi qiang were assigned mobile roles.meaning have to move around the college to take videos of various booths.then in the end, we only took like five (?) mins.excluding the eight mins for mass dance.cos there wasn't much fresh or interesting stuffs anyway.ytd was a rather downcast day.in terms of morale, that is.all the lectures were like so heavy-going.except physics.and that ain't even the worst.the afternoon PE session was horrendous.at first, running seven rounds was still okay.then came the tortuous part.22 chin-ups, followed by dips + diamond & normal push-up + back arch.and the latter set of exercises was repeated.omg.i really really need to train up my fitness.and complaining isn't helping much.national service would be like ten (?) times tougher than current programme.today's the last day of term 1.but i never felt too excited over that.there's no reason why i should feel that way.in fact, i'll be staying back till 8+ cos i volunteered to provide ava support for orientation 2's finale night.which is a good thing since i can focus on something else.instead of thinking about tomorrow's plans.regarding holiday assignments...besides GP homework, i'll have to re-do the essay for econs common test.which i failed so terribly.and also read up on the thick stack of geog readings.honestly speaking, these aren't too demanding of me.the journey to success is always tough.but sacrificing is always for a good cause.the conclusion: there's no reason to slack. start revising before it's too late.but i wonder if i could bring myself to face line after line of fine print??physics lesson was cancelled today.our subject tutor is sick today.wahahas.but my day ain't over yet.ava members are setting up the necessary equipment from 3.30.i shall join them at around 4.meanwhile, i'm gonna continue browsing blogs.so cya around.total blogging time today: 25 minutes.

(:tis afternoon got cca carnival.sian 1/2.ppl wanna go home slp can?on another note, the J1s this year seem underprivileged.my batch had five days for orientation 2, but this new batch only has three.their programme would probably be subject talks + cca carnival today, some games over the next two days, and finally a hasty wrap-up on friday.sad case rite.my com is now broken down for three months.officially.omg.i don't wish to burn anymore money at internet cafes.but repairing computers is expensive nowadays.and my broadband subscription is still running.sigh.caught in a dilemma now.alright.time to make a move.econs lecture.gonna sleep even more lor.total blogging time today: 13 minutes.

here's some news out of the ordinary.just a quick summary.parts of Singapore experienced tremors after a 6.6 magnitude earthquake jolted Sumatra at 11.50am, approximately 420-430 km south-west.tremors were felt in areas such as Beach Road, Jalan Besar, Robinson Road, Shunfu and Toa Payoh.some buildings, such as Ngee Ann Polytechnic, were evacuated.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~it's fortunate that earthquakes don't really affect Singapore much.so people, stop complaining about the things that are out of your reach.and learn to cherish what you have today.or do you wanna wait for disasters to happen before you finally begin to treasure everything that's around you?was informed that there'll be holiday make-up lecture for maths.sian diao.that's two days down for this vacation.oh wait, i shan't complain so much from now onwards.for the absent-minded, here's the schedule for next week's extra lessons.* // edited 9 mar, 1510 \\ *Maths (complex numbers): mon. 12 march. 0800-1100. got no freaking idea why i felt so tired today.
i was like sapped of energy for most parts of the day.
except for PE lesson that is.
didn't pay much attention to all the lectures.
and it only got worse during civics.
there was this briefing on the school graduation certificate thingy.
totally disinterested sia.
wonder how many students actually paid close attention.
i know this is something very important, but conducting the briefing in the middle of the day is like so wrong can.
not to mention there's GP tutorial right after.
the group essay presentation didn't go very smoothly.
my part of the essay was perceived to be irrelevant.
zzz.
i did the news article on time.
but i think i'm focusing too much on political issues.

perhaps the next article should focus on other topics.

hey guys, pardon me for starting with stocks once more."Asian stocks tumble as yen surges"SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Asia's battered stock markets tumbled again on Monday, as a global sell-off that began last week gathered fresh steam, with Japanese shares sliding more than 3 percent as a surging yen hammered exporters such as Toyota (7203.T: Quote, NEWS , Research). The yen hit three-month highs against the dollar and the euro as investors rushed to close out risky trades and pay off the cheap yen loans that financed them.Major European markets are expected to open down around 2 percent on Monday, financial bookmakers said. Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE is expected to open 1.8 percent lower, while Germany's DAX <.GDAXI> and France's CAC 40 <.FCHI> are expected to open down 2 and 2.2 percent, respectively."If New York continues to slide and the yen continues to strengthen at this pace, there is no bottom in sight for Japan," said Kirby Daley, a strategist at brokerage Fimat in Tokyo.A near 9 percent slump in China's main stock index <.SSEC> last Tuesday, combined with worries about stalling U.S. growth, sparked a wave a selling in world equity markets, many of which had been trading around record highs.Australian stocks <.AXJO> fell 2.3 percent to a seven-week closing low, erasing all their gains for 2007, with the world's largest miner, BHP Billiton (BHP.AX: Quote, Profile , Research), dropping 2.9 percent.Share indexes in Hong Kong <.HSI>, Taiwan <.TWII> and Singapore <.STI> lost between 3 and 4 percent and South Korea's benchmark <.KS11> fell 2.7 percent.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~apparently, the end of this global sell-off is nowhere in sight.expect the STI to fall below 2,800 within the next fortnight.as it enters its sixth consecutive day of declines.checked the SGX site 15 minutes ago.the STI was down a staggering 147 points at 2,933.those investors who said there's no cause for panic should really start digging holes to hide into.for there is no clear issue over this sell-off, unlike the post-9/11 period.expecting the global markets to rebound anytime soon?wake up and look at reality.i strongly advise all investors to continue staying on the sidelines.since market sentiment is still very weak and volatile.here, i reiterate my stand that this wave of selling will only be over by end-April.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~back to normalcy.so how was my weekend spent, you may ask.well, it was business as usual.sat:SL in the morning, online games in the afternoon.levelled in maple. to 79.then switched to pangya.but couldn't regain my Midas touch for the game.so switched to audition.initially also played quite badly la.kept losing and losing until i wanted to vomit blood.but after awhile, the chains came.executed perfect x3, x5, and even one x7.majority of the time was spent in npc battle party mode.won about 70% of all the rounds ba.earned about 20k Den.but my character's still stuck at lvl 11.since battle parties don't give you experience pts. -.-sun:went to Mr Tham's house in Yishun to bai nian.with wei chao, liang pei, joycelin, kailing, valerie, tan jin, nizar, carmen and zi song.chatted about maths, school life.and somehow the focus got diverted to my blog.had no regrets revealing my blog address though.left at about 1.30.skipped swimming class as it was raining in the late afternoon.nowadays, that occurs on an almost daily basis.today:geog lecture was extremely boring and dry and technical.but tried to stay awake nevertheless.then got back math test on probability.and i passed.10/14.which means i owe the guys a meal.zzz.civics was free and easy.there isn't much to discuss abt the new college mission and values anyway.continued with preparation of geog presentation slides at free access rm.once again, econs was sleeping time.the case study skills workshop really drained me mentally.almost dozed off on so many occasions.completed discussion of dc circuits tutorial for physics.after lesson, paid another visit to free access rm to complete the geog slides.okay.that's all for today.gotta go complete my news article, as usual.so cya around.total blogging time today: 48 minutes.

GCE 'A' Level results will be released in less than 30 minutes time. have been released.hope AJ has done well, both for the seniors from 05/06 batch and my friends from the current batch who took H1 chinese last yr.that major event aside, it was another calm day.running out of adjectives to describe a normal day.every day seems to follow the same routine.come school, have lessons, visit library, go home.i have been trying to interact more often with my classmates.but that has produced mixed results.still, i will keep trying.otherwise, my critics will continue to taunt me and hope that i explode again.but sadly for them, that's never going to happen.registered for my preferred civics module yesterday.chosen "Financial Planning For Young People".this is suitable for spendthrifts like myself.who have little self-discipline when it comes to spending money.my way of spending lavishly is not through shopping.but through phone bills.i've chalked up at least $1,500 in them since i started using my nokia 3200 three years ago.at its worst, i remember splurging $180+ in one month just on GPRS usage.history won't repeat itself?yeah right.last month i used GPRS on a regular basis - again.meaning this month's bill will be "supersized".probably in excess of $70.sometimes you wonder if GPRS service is as addictive as cigarettes.given that the former is so convenient to be accessed.i did call Singtel's 1626 hotline to terminate the GPRS subscription.only to reactivate it again via *43327.that's itchy fingers for you.and now i'm starting to hear screams and cheers from outside the library.despite the soundproof glass panels.so once again, congrats to all who have excelled.finally, the weekend has arrived.will be quite busy.which is a good thing.tomorrow morning is SL as usual after a two-week hiatus.followed by you-know-what.then on sunday, mr tham is inviting our class over to his house.still pondering if i should go.this might be the one and only chance to meet up.so most probably i will be going.sadly, i can't stay for long.latest till 3.30++.cuz late afternoon got swimming class.okays.that's all for now.check me out online tomorrow afternoon.from 1-6pm.i will either be on maple or pangya.i may have quitted online games, but every now and then i'll still login.so cya around.total blogging time today: exactly an hour.

to my surprise, the STI was still able to jump by nearly 50 points within the first hour of trade today.fortunately, by midday the rise is capped to just 5.85 points.what a vast contrast.and a signal that things will go awfully wrong in the second half.current situation? the index is already in negative territory.down 40 points.LOLS.pessimists rule the market at this point of time.there's no doubt about it.believe my word.the market correction should and will continue at least till end-April.okay, i know i seem to be harping alot about stocks.but i just cant help it.cuz i'm an absolute pessimist.
when markets crash, words can't describe my degree of relief.
anyway, the GP compre test wasn't difficult either.
it was possible to pre-empt the passage to be tested.
which turned out to be the Nov 2002 'A' level passage.
on discouraging the use of Singlish.
i failed to finish the application question yet again.
but there are positives to take away from this.
