so passing the last scroll , a 70% overall armor for int , was scant consolation to the 20+m that i've bombed away in the process .
oh well .
guess i'm not lucky at all tdy .

looking back at the past week , life at school sure gets tougher .
timed practices are taking place at full steam .
for all subjects except physics .
but there will be one for physics this coming mon too .
i was late for the first time in my jc life last wed .
and there goes my perfect punctuality record . >.<

on the finance front , the dow jones industrial average suffered yet another triple-digit loss on ytd's overnight session, falling by another 208 points to compound investors' misery even further .
the index already lost 220+ points on tues and 311 on thurs , as fears over the global credit crunch having adverse effects on global economic growth intensified from mid-week .
a direct result of the DJIA's crash on thurs , asia-pacific stocks were soaked in a bloodbath on fri session .
the taiwan weighted index plunged over 400 points , just when it was inches short of the historic 10,000 mark , the hang seng lost more than 640 points , and the nikkei 225 dropped by 418 .
as expected , singapore shares were not spared .
following a 53.86-point drop the day before on poor manufacturing output data , the straits times index plunged by another 87 yesterday to end at a two-month low of 3,497 , breaching the critical mid-term support level of 3,500 in the process too .

so how does the 'weather outlook' for regional indices shape up in this coming week?

continued weakness of the DJIA on fri showed that more selling could be ahead .
you would rarely see the index falling by triple digits on consecutive days .
so when this happens , it doesn't bode well for market sentiment .
expect more profit-taking for the first half of the week .
as some analysts pointed out , this could possibly be a start of a major correction that is long overdue .
my target level for the STI for end-2007 remains at 3,150 .
and no, it's not because i'm an absolute pessimist .
but let's be realistic .
certain shares like SGX have skyrocketed way above their valuations .
so is the case for penny stocks , with the UOB Sesdaq briefly breaching 300 points before retreating in line with the mainstream indices .
therefore for now , sell while you still can .
short-term support level for the STI : 3,350/3,370 .
short-term resistance level : 3,550 .
if the STI falls below 3,350 in the coming fortnight , expect the market correction to be prolonged till end-august . (this is the worst-case scenario)




i finally got the ludi medal after killing numerous thanatos .
next and final step ? down the papulatus clock .
will be available for clock party from 8/8 all the way to 12/8 .


currently trying real hard to complete the geog revision worksheets .
completed 50% of the seven so far .
there're tasks for all other subjects too .
tdy's also the last day for updating sch grad certificate's entries .

because of the huge workload, i had to reject TWO invitations from my relatives to chill out together with them .
one was a movie date , the other was a karaoke date . >.<
that's significant since i rarely receive such invitations nowadays .
not to mention two in a single day .
anyways , i've been down with a really bad flu since thurs .
feeling better now but only just .
so i'll most likely give tonight's swimming class a miss .

today was seriously draining .
two timed practices, econs and gp .
gp was crazy . there wasn't even a break in between the papers .
and it's like three hours straight .
till almost 6pm .
even the actual day also will have 30 min break rite .
zzz .
and more laughable is the teacher .
say what must accustom ourselves to difficult environments .
oh please .
our gp paper will be from the morning and will end at noon .
* on checking the confirmation slip there is indeed an sfternoon paper for the subject . my apologies once more .
moving on to the paper itself .
well . it was a disaster as usual .
now i'm really starting to worry about my gp grades .
think i getting overcomplacent ler .
anyway .
my house is a terrible mess now .
as the living room has been cleared of all the bulky items .
they've been transferred to my room and com room .
re-tiling works will commence tmr and end by sunday .

there's good news for my house's re-tiling works .
the total cost has been reduced to $2k after switching to a different contractor .
which means my laptop will stay .
i got to be prepared for some frenzied transition from thurs though . (pls don't remind me of that compre on cities -_-)
as everything in the living room has to be temporarily moved elsewhere .

here's a quick glance of my current equips.
i know it's long but just bear with it.
the body cant seem to accomodate two items in a row no matter how i arrange them.
zzz.

some notes:

1) other than esther shield and white gaia cape, all the items were bought from free market.

2) scrolled cape with 1 30% and 4 60%. 30% failed, 3/4 60% passed.

3) scrolled overall with 1 70%. passed.

4) scrolled earrings with 1 70%. passed too.

5) scrolling of the remaining items will wait till i have sufficient funds.

buddy check #2.



this time round, no one from offline list was found to be online.
i can tell that about half of them have already quitted maple.
but i'll encounter more people anyway in the later days.
so while i was slacking at coolie map 1, a couple came along and i just gave them slots without them even asking. (map 1 is too big for one person >.<)
and who says kindness doesn't get repaid?



the couple seemed really gratified by my actions.
lolz.
the guy raised my fame level while the lady asked whether i'd be online again the day after so that i could train her.
well, i was just doing part of being kind.
if only every mapler could be more gracious.
of course, that's just the utopian mindset which would never materialise, especially in Aquila where overcrowding in popular maps like EWTB (Encounter With The Buddha) and raiding/ksing is the norm.



brief summary of mid-year scores:

* econs 31% (e. 45)

yup.
things look really bleak at this point of time.
and i must make an effort to study harder le.
seeing how i self-destructed for math.
although this should have been done long ago.
and i think i becoming addicted to maple liao.
thus, i've adopted an action plan to kick the maple habit.
at least till the end of the 'A's.
tmr's mapling time will be reduced to four hours.
and i'll be totally offline on sunday.
for the remaining weeks up to prelims, play time will be reduced to two hours a week on weekends.
with the exception of the long national day break.
from wed (8/8) to sun (12/8) will be pure chionging i suppose.

what should be the priority now?
hitting level 100 or scoring decently for prelims?
i guess the answer is obvious.

` 090707. NS med checkup.

CMPB's location was really... deserted.
for the uninitiated, CMPB stands for Central Manpower Base.
despite being "well-versed" in public transport routes (thanks to the bus guides i've been collecting), i had to transfer from bus to purple line then bus again.
there were actually two options.
first was to take service 147 to jalan bukit merah.
following a transfer to service 195 which would bring me to depot road.
the destination stop would be closer to the main entrance.
second was to take service 112 to kovan mrt station.
after that, take mrt all the way to outram park interchange.
then transfer to green line and alight at redhill.
finally, service 145 which would take me to henderson road.

implication: the first route can better save on transport fees.
technically speaking, that couldn't be disputed.
but i forgot that it was the morning rush hours.
and road traffic is bound to be congested.
especially so since 147 passes through parts of chinatown.
still, i was stupid enough to embark on route one.
my appointment time was 0930.
by the time the bus neared potong pasir station, it was already 0850.
realising i wouldn't be able to make it purely by bus, i had to switch to purple line and transit to outram park interchange.
the rest of my LONG journey followed the script for route two.
by the time i reach the main entrance, it was like 0940 le. >.<

i wouldn't delve into the details of the med check.
except that the x-ray guy was so ___.
and the vocational assessment at the end took ages.
like almost two hours la.
and worse, i forgot to ask for confirmation letter before leaving.
zzz.
so i had to use the "summary of medical status" form instead as an excuse for missing the day's lessons. =/
oh and btw, i'm provisionally graded as PES A.
sucks.
if never start training up from now means certain failure for IPPT.
later in the day, i returned to school for physics make-up lecture.
and i wished i had given it a miss.
the lecture comprised of a practice of 15 multiple choice questions, followed by the teacher giving the answer key, and then.. dismissal. -__-
oh well.
had to take back my geog and econs essay papers anyway.
and both scores failed my expectations.
again.
geog was 47.5/100. the DRQs were a massive disappointment.
econs was 9/25. combined with 8/30 for case study, the result was a foregone conclusion. zzz.
so yea, a pretty bad day for me there.

well, nothing notable of record.
just one less day before the major exams.
my lecture group finally moved on to final chapter for math.
then pe was more training at the gym.
geog was a continuation of going through the common test.
mass civics was talks from senior personnel from NTU and SMU.
and finally gp, more jokes and stuff as usual.

the bill for re-tiling has come up to $3745.
now that's really a major bombshell.
i think my laptop may have to go.
and the irony is i got it just three weeks ago!
which sucks even more.

this week hasn't been kind to me at all.
and there's still a pileload of assignments waiting for me.
okay.
i must try my utmost best to take down everything.
probably have to stay up till 2am or later.

my living room is fraught with danger now.
omg.
there were warning signs minutes before this occurred.
my mum was back for lunch at 1230 and the baby chair that me and her would always be using as a table (2nd pic, top right) was at that exact location where the tile spilt was.
then there was a series of cracking sounds that seemed to originate from the unit above ours.
but upon closer listening, these sounds were from the floor.
at this point, i was in the comp room looking for maple equips at free market, and i just told my mum to evacuate to the kitchen IMMEDIATELY.
(i was like shouting and barking at her la. zzz.)
and a couple of minutes later, this happened.
my parents will have to pay big bucks over the re-tiling works i suppose.




repairing works are now being carried out by my dad to reduce the danger as well as to await cementing of new tiles.


i failed math with flying colours.
21/100.
way off my own expectations.
zzz.
really must start practising questions from now ler.
i did score a good pass for physics with 71%.
but it's only a H1 subject after all.
no point passing only H1s but failing all H2s.

NS medical checkup in three days' time. (next mon, 9/7)
my friends said the entire process takes at least three hours.
which means it should be complete by 1pm.
lessons end at 1.45, so technically i don't need to return to school.
there's physics make up lecture that day though.
it's late in the afternoon, from 5.15 to 6.15pm.
but it really isn't wise to skip any lessons from this term.
so i will most probably attend it still.

today in maple, i went around vic island slacking as usual.
explored ice and dark drake area in dungeon as well.
and i realised dark drakes aren't weak to holy attacks. -.-
occasionally, i will perform buddy checks.
and today was one of such days.

definition of buddy check: using /find to track buddies who appeared to be offline but are actually online.



as you can see, unfortunately, there was one out of 37 contacts who was online despite she being in my buddylist.
{name has been blacked out in respect of her privacy}
oh well.
maybe her list is full alr and can't accommodate me liao.
sadly, this isn't the first time and probably wont be the last.

i like my new 5700 phone.
it's pretty much a shadow of a portable MP3 player.
while red may not always be the best colour for a phone, 5700's red isn't too feminine in my opinion.
although there are bound to be people who think it is. =/
the transfer of music from my desktop + laptop is also seamless.
even the absence of 3.5mm earphone jack is a blessing in disguise.
the mini-controller [with the play/pause, forward, rewind keys.. i don't know the exact name =x] connects the phone with the earphones.
and it actually saves the hassle of having to reach for the phone everytime you want to change a song.

okay.
gotta retire for the day.
more updates on the medical checkup will come from next tues.
and pictures of my new gadgets will be up by the end of next week~

failed my econs case study paper.
got 8/30, which was a horrendous mark.
was expecting at least a double-digit.
worse is probably to come for essay paper to be returned next mon.

maths and econs gone case liao.
which means i must pass geog.
a big MUST.
if not ur gonna see my parents at the parent-teacher meeting for sure.
geog scripts will also be returned next mon.

on a lighter note, i got my new phone at last.
hail the nokia 5700 instead, not the 6300.
it's pretty thick (about as thick as 6280/6288).
but packs a punch when it comes to the functions.
there's the usual two megapixel camera, infrared, bluetooth, 512 MB microSD, fm radio, video recording, among other special applications like realplayer and flash player.
and it only cost me $199.
rather, my dad as he's my guarantor.
i'm not yet eighteen, which explains the need for an adult guarantor to be present during the entire admin process. i signed up for iOne Plus student plan btw.

and not forgetting a pinch of maple as usual to lighten the day.
well, slacked today. didn't train at all.
helped low level players level instead.



just a simple act of helping another player to hunt items works wonders.
this girl wants me to be her kor (brother) after i agreed to help her hunt for firewood.
this is called spreading warmth around okay.
if only maplers stop map raiding, ksing, scamming, hacking, whatever unethical means to the game.

i'm still trying to figure out what to include for my SGC writeup.
bored^3 sia.
especially for the personal qualities part.
okay.
no more distractions from now ler.
i must cook up something for the writeup liao.
if not i'll surely be grilled by miss johnson tmr. =.=

looks like i won't meet most of the targets set for the common tests.
initially i had confidence in all subjects except maths.
but i heard that econs was done quite badly across the board.
i'm maintaining the target of 45% though.
surely scraping through with a borderline pass isn't that tough?
also heard that the geog DRQs were not well done either.

i know my urbanisation question is surely screwed.
but the rest should warrant decent scores in my opinion.
well, won't speculate any further.
the cold hard truth will be staring hard at me once the results are released next week.

finally levelled again ytd after what seemed like a long period.
to be exact, five days.
from 92 to 93, it only took me 12 hrs.
but 93 to 94 took like five times that amount of time? >.<
bearing in mind that i don't use 2x coupons of any kind.
but school has returned to normal after common tests week.
sadly, that means i can only be online on weekends.

i'm preparing to welcome another gadget to my family.
hail the nokia 6300 as early as from tomorrow.
okay, that's really peanuts compared to the Nseries phones.
but remember that i've been using the 3200 for three whole years!
and second hand dealers don't even accept it for trade in anymore.
so yea, it's really high time for a change.

for now, i should really continue my revision on hydrology.
and stop daydreaming so much. (don't think abt maple alr. zzz)
