in the end, it appeared that united's defence was lethargic in handling the swift forward drives of Drogba n Co. no wonder that Edwin van der Sar couldn't do anything to keep a clean sheet.

now that man utd had lost this, they have 79 points from 36 games. liverpool, who defeated aston villa 3-1 on the same day as the chelsea-man u encounter, are level on points but played 1 more match. it's unlikely that man utd will lose their 2nd spot unless they do not get the max 3 points against boro tomorrow. but still, there's a mathematical possibility that pool will overtake man utd for that automatic champions league position.

well, my prediction was way off, i admit. look at the responses in the taggie, all criticising my so-called "accurate" prediction. fine. the blues are just lucky that the red devils did not perform up to standard. else a draw might be likely.
