once again, was let down by my intuition. had forecasted that man utd will surely collect 3 points from boro and secure 2nd after the painful defeat at chelsea which saw the team lose wayne rooney, their hitman. but yet again i was proven wrong. the match ended in a dull, goal-less draw. implications of the draw? man utd has 80 points from 37 games on 2nd place while liverpool is just 1 point behind. so it will really go right down the wire at their final games. perhaps there's insufficient time for the red devils to recover - they had less than 48 hours rest before the boro game. no excuses though. boro had already fielded an under-strength team to face them, to lower the risk of their players getting injured ahead of their uefa cup final against sevilla. and it appeared that boro's performance was equally, if not better, than their united counterparts. united needs to secure max points in their final game, which should not be that much an uphill task initially. but with this slump in form coming at the wrong time, who knows? liverpool might just steal second spot and condemn united to having to start from the qualifying rounds of next season's champions' league. whatever it is, i certainly hope that will not happen.
